To be able to edit your image at later time, you need to click Save as Project.
This will save it as a 'work in progress' in your account.
When you are ready to work on the image again, you can find it by clicking on Templates & Projects in the task bar on the left side or in My Projects on the home page.
You won't be able to edit images that you downloaded unless you also saved as a template.
